Bed bugs are back with a vengeance. Once considered eradicated from domestic settings in North America during the 1950s by the use of DDT and treatment regimens no longer practiced, bed bugs are again infesting mattresses, box springs, bed frames, nightstands, picture frames, appliances, carpets, wall voids, and upholstered furniture in living spaces across the U.S.

Bed bugs are difficult to notice, particularly if infestations are light. The pests are very small, ranging from 1/8” to ¼” depending on growth stage.

Like mosquitoes, bed bugs are naturally attracted to the CO2 a human exhales; next, to the scent of other chemicals emitted through the skin and respiration; and finally to the heat from the blood of a human body.

One of the first signs of a bed bug infestation is red bites on your skin. You can check your mattress and bed linens for droppings which will look like brown or red blood spots.
