  1. I am still getting bitten as much as before! What's wrong?
  2. Several times a minute, there is a distinct clicking sound coming from my unit. Is it broken?
  3. There is only a small amount of insects in the collection tray. Why isn't my Dragonfly killing more mosquitoes?
  4. How can I be sure if my Dragonfly is working?
  5. What if I have additional questions?
I am still getting bitten as much as before! What's wrong?

For effective performance, your DragonflyŽ System must be placed at least 10 m (30 ft) away from the area you want to protect. If it is too close, mosquitoes may see you as they are drawn toward the trap. Operate Mosquito 'CognitoŽ units near you to mask your scent while the Dragonfly lures mosquitoes away from your location.

Your Dragonfly should be placed in an exposed, open area. A Dragonfly unit placed directly adjacent to a house wall, under a porch, or beneath a pine tree's protected canopy will not function at optimal levels.

In addition, a Dragonfly placed about 3 feet off the ground will attract bugs much more effectively than a unit mounted at a lower or higher height. Visit www.biosensory.com/products.html for information on purchasing a pedestal accessory for a convenient and attractive solution.

Several times a minute, there is a distinct clicking sound coming from my unit. Is it broken?

No. The sound you hear is the Dragonfly releasing the "breaths" or puffs of CO2 properly.

There is only a small amount of insects in the collection tray. Why isn't my Dragonfly killing more mosquitoes?

The amount of insects in the collection tray is not indicative of the total number of insects your Dragonfly unit is destroying. You may not have large collections of insects with the Dragonfly trap because not all killed insects land in the collection tray due to flight path and shock. Twenty-five percent of killed insects will fall outside the trap's collection tray immediately below the grid. Many mosquitoes will also stick to the killing grid. Wind and other scavenger insects like ants and wasps may also remove significant numbers of mosquito carcasses.

How can I be sure if my Dragonfly is working?

Are you being bitten as often as before you had the Dragonfly system? If you go outside at night or dusk and hear faint "pops" and see small blue flashes within your Dragonfly, you can be assured that your trap is killing many mosquitoes and biting insects and is working properly. Consider that even if you hear one zap every two seconds from the unit, you are killing about 1,800 Mosquitoes an hour.
